Psibindi is an international DJ and prolific vocalist best known for her distinctive selection of powerful psychedelic trance, interwoven with her signature psy FX vocals.
The classically trained Indian singer (aka Rena) and accomplished psychedelic trance DJ has made waves as a producer in recent years. Signed to UK label Aphid Records, Psibindi has teamed up with psy-trance maestros Aphid Moon and Mechanimal. Together they have created three Beatport chart storming EPs, Psychic Traveller, Binary Star and Elliptic, which have been played to energetic crowds at some of the most vibrant dance floors across the world.
The characteristic sounds of Psibindi’s fourth collaborative EP Sentient Rays, is due for release on Aphid Records in 2021. Her forthcoming collaboration ‘Luminous Rays’ with Mechanimal was hand picked by BBC Radio 1 DJ Jaguar and played on her BBC Introducing Dance show, on Radio 1. It is the first time that psy-trance was played on her show.
From the studio to the stage: her stunning live performances at Ozora and Boomtown festivals had large crowds of dance-floor warriors stomping to their heart’s content.
The spirit and sounds of Psibindi have gained momentum on a global scale. As a result, her talent, skills and energy have caught the attention of countless other festivals and events too, leading to headlining tours in the UK, Spain, Ibiza, Mallorca, Poland, Holland, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Finland and Malta.
In 2020, Binary Star [which she co-produced with Aphid Moon], caught the attention of global superstar DJ, Nina Kravitz, who played the track during her eclectic Hot Steel DJ set at Cavo Paradiso Club in Mykonos.
As a singer, Rena has been actively involved with pursuing other creative projects, diving into the studio with top music producer Hannah V (Rihanna, Jessie J, Stormzy) to record her solo single Find Me, released on Psy-Sisters Music Ltd.
The release went on to capture media attention from London Live TV, Soho Radio, Wandsworth Radio, Portobello Radio, and from British broadcaster Jasmine Dotiwala who interviewed Rena for BBC Radio London. Find Me was also featured twice on BBC Introducing London.
Psibindi’s vocals have also complimented the downtempo ambient sounds of Pete Ardron. The duo released Lilaya EP on Altar Records and have performed live at numerous events.
The artist continues to thrive under different monikers. Her onstage presence takes on a distinctive new life when she performs as the front woman of her alt-rock band Sentience Machine.
The band’s debut single Black Mirror was a response to the global pandemic, and delivered with conviction, a critical message about keeping the spirit of music alive. The record was given rave reviews by UK pioneers, Asian Dub Foundation, and by renowned British singer-songwriter, Charlotte Kelly from the legendary group Soul II Soul.
Psibindi has always been vocal about the power of music to effect positive social change and was invited to discuss the lack of British Asian Artists in mainstream music on TV show London360 alongside artists Jay Sean, Naughty Boy and Hannah V.
The artist continues to express her passion for utilising music as a tool for activism as seen in 2020, when she joined the likes of DJ legends Carl Cox and Nightmares On Wax to raise funds for sustainable projects in developing countries with a live streamed DJ set for Set For Love Covid 19 Relief Appeal founded by charity Last Night A DJ Saved My Life.
Her video about the campaign was promoted on the LNADJ platform to help raise further awareness about the global fundraiser.
Psibindi has always had a penchant for inspiring talented artists of the future. She joined forces with music tech giant Native Instruments to run their successful London Meetup events.
